Shoe news? New shoes? See what I did ther… Oh. You did? OK, well then.
At the end of May 2024 (yes, just last year) I bought a new pair of walking shoes/boots. Someone on this Internet (I’m sorry, I’ve forgotten who you are) recommended Grisport as a make and after browsing their website I bought a pair of Fuse Lowland Trekking Boots:

Well, here we are, 16 months later and I have to replace them so I’ve bought exactly the same again. Now you might think that’s a bit bonkers, spending a fair wedge of dosh on a pair of shoes/boots that lasted a mere 16 months but over the weekend I sat down with a spreadsheet and calculated those boots and I have covered 5,124Km (or 3,184 miles if you prefer).
I don’t think that’s too shabby really – 5,124Km (3,184 miles) is a lot of wear.
From what I can gather (by perusing the internets), 1,000 to 1,200 miles is about the best you can expect from a decent pair of walking boots, so it sounds like you’ve had your money’s worth… t roughly 4p a mile.
Mine – whichever ones I get – only seem to last about 12 months, but I’ve never calculated the actual mileage.
And I’ve yet to find a pair that are actually waterproof, despite them having a stamp on the side to say they are.
Wow! Thanks for the info. Now I feel even better about buying another pair of the same.
