I’ve been meaning to write this one up for a while but I’m so busy I set it to the back of my mental queue (and it is quite a mental queue!).
Anyway. I was watching The Chase a couple of weeks ago when a question, which went something like this, was asked: “Which species is a Spanish island group named after?”
Thankfully (!) the contestant passed and Bradley gave the answer as “Birds” which is, of course, 100% incorrect. The Canaries (for it were they) are named after dogs (the name ‘Las Canarias’ – the Canaries – being derived from Canario, a breed of dog native to Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
Anyway, in other news, my application to be on The Chase is still, apparently ‘live’.
