Thoughts from inside my head

  1. FIFA is the World Governing Body of Football
  2. Serious allegations have been made in a television documentary about a number of FIFA delegates including
  3. that they (allegedly) took substantial amounts of money from vested sources, in return for making certain decision-making favours
  4. Question: is the World Governing Body of Football fit for purpose?

It just seems to me that, in Europe in particular, there is a mind-bogglingly huge amount of money in the sport of football.

So surely FIFA and its delegates should be cleaner than clean?

Or have a wholesale turnover of staff, at every level of the organisation, until it is?

  1. I suspect that most people think that FIFA has been riddled with corruption for decades.

You are right, there is an incredible amount of money in football. The Premier League in the UK now being one of the richest leagues in the world, mainly thanks to Sky and their TV rights deals.

  2. Bungs (PL), payments for votes (FIFA), match-fixing (Ita), Bribery (Spa), Platini (Fra). My love for football has waned dramatically over the years, and mostly to do with the money involved.

Sh1te players earning over 100,000 a week? It’s painfully mind boggling even if it is what people choose to spend their money on. Sheikhs/oligarchs/tycoons throwing billions of dollars into a new toy when there are diseases to be cured, it leaves me wondering how wretched some people can actually be. And by association, the beautiful game becomes infested with the manipulative weavils of fast-earned wealth.

  3. It’s not a sport anymore, it’s jsut a multi million quid business, same as anything else. It’s just that the product happens to be blokes kicking a windbag round a field. I’ve long since been disgusted with the amount of money in top flight football, it’s just bloody obscene.
