Ah, the joys of having one’s own hosted site and multiple database products. On that last point. SQL-Server’s operating overhead has really come down in the current release. I’m running an instance of MySQL and SQL-Server and there’s little to choose between the two at the moment.
Anyway.
This morning I ran a BI report for the first full month of audited file and server activity for the podcast.
Last month the podcast averaged 32,213 weekly downloads – or 32,213 downloads per episode if you prefer.
Unfortunately, because of the way iTunes manages their RSS syndication and their pecular UID methodology, I can’t determine how many iTunes ‘listens’ occur, so the statistic above excludes iTunes activity.
The top countries by IP locator (so a slight pinch of salt please when reading these numbers) shows the national breakdown of non-iTunes listens as:
| Ranking | Country |
| 1 | United States |
| 2 | United Kingdom |
| 3 | Spain |
| 4 | Germany |
| 5 | Canada |
| 6 | Mexico |
| 7 | France |
| 8 | Netherlands |
| 9 | New Zealand |
| 10 | Venezuela |
| 11 | Argentina |
| 12 | Honduras |
| 13 | Japan |
| 14 | Italy |
| 15 | India |
| 16 | Hong Kong |
| 17 | Greece |
| 18 | Colombia |
| 19 | China |
| 20 | Belgium |
That’s over 48% of listeners in the US alone and that, my friends, is very interesting. The high proportion of Spanish/Latin American countries is also very gratifying.
So a quick message to everyone who picks up a weekly episode of This Reality Podcast.
I think you’re bonkers, but truly wonderful.
Thank you for your support.
I’ll think of you whenever I wear it.
🙂

“Thank you for your support. I’ll think of you whenever I wear it.”
