Llifogydd: Canslo gwyl rasus

Mae’r gwaith clirio wedi dechrau ar ôl llifogydd sydyn ddydd Mercher.

Cafodd Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub y Canolbarth a’r Gorllewin eu galw i helpu pobl mewn sawl rhan o Geredigion ar ôl i law trwm achosi llifogydd mewn cyfnod byr.

Bu’n rhaid cau rhai ffyrdd am gyfnod ac mae gwyl rasus wedi cael ei chanslo am y tro cynta yn ei hanes.

Penderfynodd Clwb Trotian Tregaron ganslo Gwyl Rasus Tregaron oedd i fod i ddechrau ddydd Iau.

Roedd archwiliad o gyflwr y trac fore Iau ar ôl y glaw trwm a phenderfynodd y trefnwyr na fyddai’n bosib cynnal y digwyddiad.

  1. Yes, well, that’s easy for you to say!

Annoyingly, Google’s Language Tools don’t translate Welsh.

But, if the internet translation tool I used is to be believed, you are talking about the rain, Mercury and streams. And someone being examined – perhaps Vin? Hope he’s OK.

Interestingly, it translated the word ‘welsh’ into ‘werewolf’.

    I’ll say no more.

  2. Stone me mate, I’m impressed you found something on t’internet to get even that much sense out of colloquial/conversational Welsh!

    Vin’s fine, thanks.

In a nutshell: This bank holiday weekend is a big event on the Welsh Trotting calendar. Unfortunately because of the typical Welsh summer the Tregaron weekend has had to be cancelled after a course inspection.

In the trotting world, it’s a little like the Cheltenham festival being rained off. Poor Sophie, that’s her big surprise day out ruined. 🙂

And yes, the Welsh are werewolves. Our bite is much worse than our bark. 🙂

  3. It’s time like this I wish I’d stayed in Wales longer to learn Welsh.

I think this is the second time in my entire life I’ve wished that 🙂

  4. Is “ddydd” seriously a word? Does it really need all these “d”? Isn’t the “y” feeling a bit lonely and insecure? So many questions…

  5. Citronella, the more ‘dd’s in a word, the softer the emphasis. So Rhondda, for example, is pronounced Rhontha. ‘Y’ is a variance identifier similar to ‘The’.

Kimberlee, nope, I didn’t. It really is cancelled! But I did make it up that it was going to be Sophie’s surprise day out. 🙂
