More feed news

On the way home this evening I ran a few feed validations against the blog with very informative results.

The feeds (this blog has three) all validate against Feedburner. But when I try and retrieve the data within those feeds I get an http: 500 error message, with the accompanying text “There was a problem retrieving the feed: java.net. SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out”.

These things tell me that my webhost (Servage) have incorrect access permissions set on the new server cluster that this website has been ported over to.

As an extra mark of validation I burnt a new feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/brennig) which also validates. But once again when I try and import data in to it I get the same http: 500 error message.

So that brings me back to Servage, the hosting company.

I’m beating them up with service tickets. I have three open for this issue and I’m sending lots of validating information to them to tell them where the problem is.

We’ll have to see how quickly they respond.
