I was on a Teams call with someone today. They kept saying ‘The thing is…’ It was OK for the first 20 minutes, but after that it got a bit… wearing. I don’t mind a bit of repetition in a conversation, especially when you are making a really important point about some incredibly fine piece of detail, but the thing is when you’re just starting to think about the thing I asked you to think about in an email I sent you last week which you very clearly haven’t read or maybe you have read it but haven’t been able to understand the five bulletpoints I asked you to consider in advance of today’s call then… well… the thing is…
The thing is, I’m not terribly certain that I want to do the job that you want me to do. And I’m in that fortunate position where I can just say… the thing is…
No.
In your last post, you declared that you had officially retired from the work thing, but here you are still having Teams calls.
Struggling to step away, eh? 😉
I’m only doing little bits, just to keep my hand in. And it’s only a bit of DBA and a bit of Dev, and restricting myself to six hours a week maximum. No more project management or programme management.
