The Insignia’s MOT, Service and insurance are all hitting the wire in the next 30 days. MOT and insurance costs are mitigated by using the friendly chap (Steve) in the town over there. Steve will be MOTing the Ninja in a couple of weeks too (the Ninja’s insurance expired/was renewed a few months ago).
So I’ve taken what steps I can to reduce the pain, but the cost of car insurance is difficult to mitigate. I’m not a mileage big hitter (despite regular runs up to the boat) and average about 7.5k a year. I always pay for my insurance in a lump sum and my selected excess is usually around £600. I do fully comp (obvs) and the good lady wife her indoors is the named driver.
Last year Carole Nash had my custom for £268.50. To keep my custom this year they want to charge me £354.61. That seems to be a peculiar business model to build an ongoing relationship with existing customers.
A quick trip over to the Russian meerkats (why are they Russian anyway?) offers me the same cover – from Allianz – for £280.85.
Well there you are then. That was a difficult decision, wasn’t it? Erm, no.
I did exactly the same with my car insurance, last month.
But, thank you: you have reminded me that I need to check when my MOT is due… I know it’s sometime around this time of year.
All part of the service 🙂
Yes, it needs one of those, too.
Mine did too. Got it done at the same time. And now to tax it.
