The spanners have been nocturnal buggers lately. Kipping well until the very early hours and then having a burst of energy where they dash downstairs, through the kitchen and out into the garden where they… well, that’s part of the problem. We don’t know what they get up to in the garden because whatever it is, they’re very silent about it.
On Sunday it was jointly decided to take them to Freedom Fields, a local safe dog-walking place, ideally suited to hyperactive idiots like ours. It was a great idea. Right up until the point where we arrived and got the dogs out of the car and into the field we’d booked. Stone me it was muddy. All the snow we’d had plus all the rain we’d had since plus all the land being too full of water to drain away plus everyone else taking their dogs to FF for a good burnout meant the field – although green and well-looked-after – was mud.
We humans slipped and skidded our way around for an hour while the four muppets tore about having a terrific time. They did the dog agility course, they ran through the tunnels, the paddled through the mud, they jumped up onto the special tabletop things and generally, they hooned about and had a wonderful hour.
When we got home we took them straight into the garden where we hosed the mud off the little darlings. Robyn, being (normally) mostly white needed to go upstairs into the shower even after getting hosed off in the garden. The others just ‘made do’ with the spray attachment on the hose.
I had a good look at the inside of the car today. I’m going to have to take it to the Romanian lads in the next town who, for £20, will turn it into a pristine-looking car once more.
And did it wear the little darlings out? Did we get a good night’s sleep because they were too tired to hoon about in the early hours? No, of course not.
Freedom Fields… well that’s a new concept!
Very entrepreneurial.
Bit much if you only have the one pooch, but it sounds like your little troop had a great time.
It’s a great place to let them go completely bonkers 😉
