The doorbell did its thing. The dogs did their (very noisy) thing. I set aside the laptop, walked to the front door, opened it, and stared at a lorryload of logs which had been tipped onto the drive. The Friendly Log Delivery Agent (FLDA) laughed when he saw my face. ‘Can’t you get the dogs to take some to your log store?’ Well no. Obviously. Because They Are Dogs. He’s a real card, the FLDA.
So I girded my loins, opened the side gates, got the big wheelbarrow and loaded up. Then I trundled it around the side of the house then onto the patio and tipped the contents onto the surface below. Then I loaded the logs into the logstore.
And repeat. And repeat. And repeat. And repeat. And repeat. And repeat.
Yes, 7 loads of the big wheelbarrow. It looks like this, now:

The back row was already there. And cat = optional, obviously.
Out of interest, how long will that lot last you?
Well, it depends. Yesterday it was a mild day, temp hovered around 9c so I didn’t light the fire until 15.00 and we probably burned 4 logs. Days when the temp dips below 7c the fire is in all day and we’ll probably burn 10-11 logs. So that lot, temp fluctuation aside, will probably last 5-6 weeks
