Blogathon 23/26: Stupider

A staggering piece of research from the US has demonstrated that, with the loss of books and the growth of tech, the current generation of schoolchildren is, for the first time, more stupid than any of the previous generations.

It isn’t just books though. It’s books + human interaction. Screentime equals fewer books and less human interaction and we, as a species, learn and grow our learning from books + human interaction. And the growth of screentime plus the decline in books + human interaction means, in measurable terms and with a dose of sweeping generalisation, the current generation of schoolchildren is more stupid than any previous generation.

This study comes off the back of news that the US government has spent $30 billion ditching textbooks in schools, in favour of laptops and tablets. Link here.
