This morning I picked the Ninja up from the workshop (SPR Racing, Ruddington, highly recommended!). I rode her home again and yes, there were a lot of giggles and smiles going on inside my helmet. The cause of the breakdown? Well…

Now that, my friend, is the starter motor from a 2016 Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R. Only those bits on the outside? They’re supposed to be on the inside, glued to the casing. They are powerful magnets which, when current is put through the starter, become electromagnets and spin the spindle which, in turn starts the bike! Except they’ve become detached from their glue-points and turned the starter motor into a big old lump of metal which did the square root of nothing. But now we’re back on the road, so the two-wheeled world is a good place to be once again.
