Just over a year ago the boss (when I served with him the first time: Wing Commander Johnnie Walker, but latterly, Air Marshal Sir John Robert Walker, KCB, CBE, AFC, FRAeS, commanding officer of RAF Brüggen when I was stationed there) checked out. After our front-line service, I later worked with Johnnie when he was Chief of Defence Intelligence. On the flight-line, he was quite an engineer (I’m certain we will all remember the Walker Chaff Dispenser with a fond smile). In the intelligence community he had few peers.
Well, this morning sad news reaches me that Wing Commander Ian Hunter, MBE, BEM, has passed away. I shall raise a glass of lemonade in Ian’s name this evening.
