Musically challenged

Challenges come in two kinds. There’s the ‘Oh bloody hell, no!’ kind and there’s the ‘Wow, that’ll be interesting, but fun!’ kind. I have decided to give myself one of the latter. It’s my goal that, by the end of this month, I will have learned to play a new song on the guitar. I want it to be a Pink Floyd song. The choice (in my head) was between ‘The Gunners Dream’ and ‘On The Turning Away’. I’m leaning very strongly towards ‘The Gunners Dream‘. But if there are any other nominations from the Pink Floyd back catalogue, I’ll consider it. But not ‘Comfortably Numb’, obviously.

  1. Gilmour could always pull more music from fewer notes than any axeman around.

The outro from On the Turning Away is awesome – and quite a challenge. After you learn it, one word . . . “Youtube.”

For Gunner’s Dream – Sophie on sax?

You had to bring it up. Now I’m going to have my Ibanez Roadstar shipped overseas.

  2. Annie, no. The podcast is for talented people, not for rubbish no-chancers

Bulldog, totally agree your comments about Dave Gilmour. He’s awesome. I’ve decided that this month’s song will be ‘The Gunners Dream’ (I never was going to attempt the solo on ‘On The Turning Away’). And yes, I’ve bookmarked a few version on YouTube.
