The working at home dilemma

Things I like about working at home:

  • Not having to shower, shave or dress until I feel like it
  • Able to work in PJs or boxers or even nothing at all
  • Peace and quiet to aid the concentration and productivity
  • Able to open the French doors and listen to the birds in the garden
  • Relaxed, informal environment
  • Comfortable, familiar surroundings
  • Able to sneer at the people on Jeremy Kyle during lunch
  • No commuting

Things I don’t like about working at home:

  • No commuting; means I miss out on podcast listening. Boo!
  • Concentrating so much on work means I forget to drink tea
  • Going a bit stir-crazy and having a funny five-minutes on Twitter as a result
  • Concentrating so much on work means I forget to eat
  • Having headaches – see not drinking or not eating above
  • Watching Jeremy Kyle and feeling dirty because I’m watching Jeremy Kyle
  • Not having a shower, shave or get dressed until mid-afternoon; feeling scruffy as a result

It’s definitely not like this at all:

So come on, people, what’s your best/worst thing about working at home?

  1. the commute (I know you already said this but it really makes a difference to me at the end of the day)

  2. 1. Loving the blog design, loving it.

    2. At sat here in the kitchen with two dogs under the table, listening to the cricket on the radio and catching up on emails. Sometimes WFH is fabulous.

  3. Steve, the commute is a relative thing. My Monday commute is a 3-hour round trip. My Thursday commute is a 4-hour round trip. I love my Friday’s working at home 🙂

Perp, 1) cheers. 2) fabulous beyond words. I think I’ll just go and put the kettle on. And maybe open the doors in to the garden….
