I’m sorry, I haven’t a clue

The news that Humphrey Littleton has checked out is very sad.

It seems as though I’ve been listening to the comedy radio show I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue for ever.

I’ve certainly been listening since I was at school; I think it was Paul Harrington who introduced me to the confusing humorous wonders of their game Mornington Crescent.

I know there’s a large archive which will no doubt be pushed out via BBC Radio 7 and I look forward to hearing more.

But I think it’s time for the BBC to pull the plug now.

When Willie Rushton died the idea of getting in a ‘guest’ team member every week was brilliant.

But I can’t see any other talent capable of filling Humph’s shoes.

Very sad.

  1. Yes v. sad.

It’s been a bad year for BBC stalwarts, what with the passing of Ned Sherrin and Alan Corren.

There was a great quote from Humph on this morning’s Today programme. Apparently he was a keen twitcher and this was brought up when he was being interviewed by some bloke in Scotland.

At one point the interviewer brought this past time up saying ” I understand Humphrey that you are a keen orthinologist?”.

Humph then admitted to the fact that it was only some 24 hours later before his wit kicked in. He was driving down the motorway when he thought “what I should have answered was, ‘what, you mean as opposed to being a word botcher?'”

    Brilliant

    Agreed. Humph is completely irreplaceable.
