It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it

It was about 11.15 when I went to bed last night.

Fast asleep by 11.30.

Wide awake at 12.15, knowing that something – not sure what, but something – was very wrong.

With me.

Lay in bed for half an hour.

Started shaking.

Tiptoed out of the bedroom and just made it to the downstairs loo.

Started throwing up.

That was about 12.45am.

Stopped throwing up about 2am.

Started throwing up about 2.15am.

Stopped throwing up about 3am.

Had a shower.

Went to bed.

Got straight up again.

Back downstairs, dry retched for about 20 minutes.

Went for a walk.

4.30am, got back in to bed.

5.15, alarm went off.

I’m not sure how I managed to drag myself down to Chippenham for a meeting on-site.

I’m not sure how I managed to keep myself going for the day.

I’m very uncertain how I managed to get back home.

Tomorrow I have to drive a 200-mile round-trip; I have a bunch of meetings in the Salisbury area.

I just hope I feel more like a human being.

    1. Well yes, I sortov should have. But didn’t. Feel like death this evening as a result. Can’t stay home tomoz either. Oh well.

  1. Oooh that’s sounding like either bad food poisoning or possibly norovirus. Lovely. On the plus side, the more you get out, the quicker the bastard will shift. Bad luck and stay off the roads until you’re better, cars and dehydration/ low blood sugar and piss poor salt levels are not the greatest of combinations. Cancel plans and make the sofa your home for a day or so. Get well soon!!

    1. Thank you, lovely V. But sadly I can’t stay at home. Drove to Salisbury for a series of meetings today; of to Chippenham for meetings tomorrow. Back to Salisbury on Thursday.

  2. I have something very similar once. Thought I was going to die. Am still sort of surprised I didn’t. Hope it’s all passed now.

    1. Thank you. I share your surprise that I haven’t expired. That’s a glimmer of hope. 🙂

  3. Hope you are feeling a little better by now…and that Clare (above) is wrong. What sort of patient are you? How’s Soph coping?

  4. Blimey sicknote, that sounds a bit rough ….. I hope you are feeling better. Did you find out what it was? Isn’t it just the worst when you have to work when you are feeling like shit?

  5. Glad you seem to be on the mend. Take it very easy – if that’s poss with your daughter visiting.
