Paved with gold?

I stand in the office in Swindon, projects and work-packages completed.

The next one – a major SI project – means that I have to relocate to London.

Once I’m bedded-in, have the measure of the scope of work and have the management of the project completely within my grasp, I’m going to try and vary things.

It would be good if I could arrange to spend one day a fortnight working at home – if for no other reason that just to get my project documentation up together!

Building and maintaining a good project-based document library and ensuring the outputs (be they highlight reports or personal activity reports for an internal customer/external stakeholder userbase) takes time (believe it or not!).

Just as any organisation with values needs to invest time in its staff…

Any project with values needs to invest time in its internal processes and administration.

Because if the documentation isn’t up to scratch and the wheels come off…

Or if the internal and/or external stakeholders begin to feel disenfranchised…

That’s when the doo-doo hits the big whirly air-rotating thing.

Oh yes, it’s true.

Anyway, London accommodation.

I’m waiting to hear from Shane and Pete as to whether or not they’ve got room at the inn (to use a phrase).

I hope so, it would be a handy – not to mention short! – commute from their house in Brixton to the office.

The big change though, is that I will be able to commute down to London at the start of the week – and return home at the end of the week by train.

Yay!

Much iPodding and reading to be had.

And also Not Yay!

Being away from home all week.

Not good. 🙁
