Blogathon 03/18

Continuing the everyday look at everyday objects through the camera lens…

A wiser person than me once said* ‘The smell under your nose is what you miss most when the wind changes.’

*And if they didn’t, they weren’t very wise

On my way through two neighbouring villages, to the stables, there are indeed distinctive smells.

Especially at this time of year, when Farmer Giles [may not be his actual name] is out there in his Dear John John Deere spreading all manner of muck over the fields.

And on the roads, but that’s a different story.

But more than the smells, there’s another striking feature.

The view.

As I crest off the top of what passes for ‘a hill’ in this part of England, the vista across South Nottinghamshire towards Derbyshire is, frankly, pretty good.

So this morning, on my way back from turning Prem out, mucking his stable out, and scraping his bed back to let the air get to the rubber floor, I paused my smelly self and had a good look about me.

And yeah, the view isn’t too shabby:

Even the power station in the background manages to look quite impressive.

    1. I’ve been right up to those cooling towers. They’re quite impressive from 10′
