Too much hyperbole is a Very Bad Thing

There’s a guy sitting opposite reading a book.

I’ve just caught sight of the title: The Greatest Game Ever Played (Mark Frost).

And the subject of this work?

Golf.

  1. I’m guessing you may be referring to the fact that, let’s say, association football is a “better game” than golf? In which case, when your favoured team lose badly to an underdog side and you hang your head in shame and I say “It’s just a game” and you reply “No it’s not!” then we’ve taken it out of the running, haven’t we?

In any case, the book chronicles perhaps the greatest game (of golf) ever played. I’m sure more than a little hyperbole (and more) could be found in the shelves of books on any sporting code.

  2. Well, on the subject of books – I’ve just spotted one on the library non-fiction shelf entitled ‘Print Is Dead’. Which is clearly a lie, since it is an actual book. I feel I may have slipped into a parallel universe or something…

    Good job it’s only a half-day today! I mean in work-terms, not in real-world terms. It’s the full 24-hours, as always…I think.

Unless the end of the world is going to happen at noon, in which case…AAAARRRRGGGGHHH!
