I accidentally stumbled on this quote last night:
‘[This act] does not deserve to still be on stage. Their continued presence in the competition is proof that a large proportion of the British public have no idea what they’re doing. Seriously, no sane mind could possibly enjoy their performances, which combine piss-weak singing with an indefinable sense of creeping dread. They are sinister and horrible, like a pair of haunted porcelain dolls who have suddenly come alive.’
Source: Charlie Brooker, The Guardian newspaper, 4th November 2006, commenting on the X-Factor act The MacDonald Brothers (who they?).
Jedward, this is your future: obscurity and ridicule. Enjoy.
Hah! The MacDonald brothers were basically the Proclaimers but 20 years younger. Not long after X-Factor finished, Mick saw them going into Skinandi’s nightclub in Thurso to do a gig – that really is scraping the barrel of available work…
And the best bit is…. The Great British Public are now planning to boycott the show! How about the people that vote actually vote for someone they support? Bizarre.
LOL!
I don’t watch the X factor because it pisses me off but even I know all about Jedward. They certainly seem to have got the country talking. I could tell you several things about Jedward but I can’t actually name ANY of the other contestants so maybe they deserve to win, simply for being exactly what ‘celeb’ is all about these days, being talked about and photoed and recognised despite the fact that you’re not actually any good at anything and are really rather annoying.

It has to; nobody’s listening.
