** Updated **
As Citronella has so kindly pointed out in her comment to this post, I’m thrilled (and I’m sad enough to actually mean that word!) to say that Sitemeter have rolled back their ‘upgrade’. It’s worth mentioning when someone listens and these guys appear to have listened. So yay to them. And thanks from me.

And so the joys of Web2.0 are brought home with a whimper, not a bang this Sunday evening.
Sitemeter’s ‘upgrade’ has to be one of the most awful pieces of ‘improved functionality’ inflicted on a user community since… [thinks long and hard]… actually I can’t think of a piece of rubbish functionality that measures up to Sitemeter’s dire ‘improvement’ that’s good enough to use as a comparison.
What Sitemeter seems to have forgotten are the golden rule of business:
1. If your product is good, leave it alone
2. If you break the trust with your users, they’ll vote with their feet and you’ll lose them and your reputation.
And that other stalwart of the Web2.0 service providing community Bloglines is becoming very unreliable.
And is anyone else noticing RSS feeds refreshing when no new content has been added in to the feeds?
B.
It would appear that Sitemeter are offering to revert to the old version. See: http://snurl.com/3qbw8
