I have seen Phil McMinn perform as the frontman of (the late) The Winchell Riots a few times.
I was in the front row, with my daughter, at Reading Festival, when The Winchell Riots played their hearts out to an enthusiastic but soggy crowd.
And my (then) 13-year old daughter left the Festival with an understanding of why I had been raving about this band, on the way down to Reading.
Too quickly afterwards, I was in the Jacqueline du Pre auditorium, in The Winchell Riots’ hometown of Oxford, for the band’s farewell performance.
The Winchell Riots have gone, but Phil McMinn has continued his musical journey.
And, through him, so have I.
In December 2013 Phil will be releasing an EP ‘The Space Has A Meaning’. The EP will feature a track called ‘Wooden Bones’.
You can hear why I enjoy Phil’s work so much, here:
And yes, if you’re familiar with my list of All Time Top 25 tunes, you’ll recognise Phil’s voice from the track ‘Kandahar Road’.
