I am approximately halfway through a fortnight’s annual leave (the rest of the household having been off school since – it seems like – early July). I know they haven’t been, that’s just how it seems.
To celebrate not having to get up at the crack of dawn to walk the dogs before logging on to various work systems, I have been getting up at the crack of dawn to walk the dogs before bacon cobs have been shoved down my throat. Awesome!
We have made tracks.
We went over there (points in that direction) in the caravan and stayed at our favourite little CL for a couple of nights. It’s a great little venue; very dog-friendly and we love it there. Then we came home, briefly.
I took the Ninja down to South Wales on a day trip; 300-miles there and back.
The next day we took the caravan up to the Derbyshire Peak District for a couple of nights and pitched up on another little CL. We did a couple of small trips; Bakewell for cake (obviously), and the Nine Ladies Bronze-Age stone circle. The stone circle is set in largely unfenced land on a hilltop moor (someone who lives in Derbyshire tried to convince me it was ‘high up’, but 320m, to a Welshman, is far from high).
The dogs loved it up there, running and jumping through the heather. They had a fantastic time.

Then we came home for another couple of nights and to give the washing machine a bit of a workout.
Tomorrow we’re going up to Deganwy for either one or two nights (depends on how we four humans and two dogs get on with sleeping on the boat). There won’t be sailing, but there will be further job assessment (the list of Good Mood tasks has been steadily reducing).
On Friday I’m going sailing. And on the weekend we’re going on a day trip to the Derbyshire Peak District where the dogs can do some more running and jumping through the heather.
Last week was a good week; the family were very much at the forefront of all of the activities. We’re aiming for the same thing this week. And then it’s back to school/work.
Sounds like you are making the most of your break.
Good for you.
When I took the caravan back to the farm today, the farmer asked if we’d had a good time. When I said we had, but I needed a holiday to recover, he roared with laughter. I wasn’t joking.
