Serious stuff #1: I need to keep this blog going so here’s a soft announcement. I’m considering removing my Author page on Facebook. The Metaverse is becoming not a nice place for small fry like me who use FB (etc). Some of the new rules coming out of Meta will adversely impact independent authors when they are implemented. So, if those events happen, I’ll use this blog much more.
Serious stuff #2: Lavender Hill (book 1) is almost ready for publication. I have pulled the titles of the other two novels I’m writing, because they will be published under a pseudonym. I explained, in the Autumn newsletter, the rationale for a pen-name.
Nice stuff: If you’re a newsletter reader, you’ll know about the places I’ve been and experiences I’ve had this year. The most recent author event remains the strongest memory, though it wasn’t the largest literary event of the year. I adored the Radcliffe-on-Trent author event, and I loved meeting some amazing people. I don’t know if I will be able to get out so much in 2027, but R-o-T is firmly on my list if I am able to make it.
Sort of serious stuff: Lavender Hill book 2 is romping along. I’ve introduced a new character who wants to be hilarious. I’m attempting to resist her funny-bone because when I planned book 2, she was a serious character of much wisdom. Hilarity was not in her makeup, but she seems determined to be amusing. Maybe I’ll allow it, when the manuscript has a little more shape.
