I could turn this into a short story and Fosseway Writers are having a short story competition, but it feels a little too close to me right now, but here’s the thought:
I have this weird (and very uncomfortable) theory dogs can sense when we’re going to die. They load up love and affection for their human in the days before it happens, and they unload all the loving goodness to surround the (dying) human, to cushion him/her in his final hours on this planet.
As I’m writing this, I have 5 spaniel fighting to clamber over me as they strive to sit on my lap, or on my chest, my shoulders, and even my head. They’re being so loving it’s breaking my heart.
Here’s a photo of how one spaniel had to position himself because he had no other way of getting close to me;

So if I die in the next couple of day, you’ll know my theory was right. Disappointingly, I wouldn’t know how the Hannah Sheppard Literary Agency felt about the submission I sent in a couple of days ago.
I’d better get writing, I need to finish the three projects I’ve got going!
